About Us
Steve Vilot has decades of experience in the world of barbering, co-owner of Sim’s Barber Lab in Boston, educator for Gibs Grooming, competition judge and for the past 14 years, director of the Barber Authority.
What started back in 2006 when he found himself as tour barber on an Eminem tour has grown to be Steve and around 50 barbers, themselves big names in the industry, ready for when the call comes to pack their bags and hit the road on tour.
Steve says: “We work for Coachella Music Festival, Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, Austin City Limits. We also do AMA Supercross events, X-Games Extreme Sports events, NHRA drag races, to name a few. We create pop-up barbershops in tents, but we are there for the artists and the athletes depending on the event. We are usually in the artist’s village for music festivals, and the athlete’s lounge for sporting events.”
This isn’t a half-assed effort. The Barber Authority turns up with a professional, fully functioning barbershop that includes vintage barber chairs, stations with mirrors, UV sanitizers boxes of tools and all the product you’ll ever need - and a serious amount of skill.
Putting on these events comes with the sponsorships from Gibs Grooming, Actiiv, Squire and Andis. “I’ve worked with Andis for years and some of the regular team is made up of Andis educators. They have been a great sponsor and send multiple boxes of tools for every event. It gives us all a chance to try out the latest equipment. At the end of the even we split up the tools between all the guys.”
